His action scenes have always come with depth and consideration-finding tension in the tiny, realistic details that make any thrilling moment.Īnd in Terminator 2, that moment comes at the very climax of the movie.Īrnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 has just used a foot-mobile minigun to wound (not kill) dozens of cops, blasting their cruisers to pieces and burning through thousands of rounds of 7.62x51mm ammo. The audience didn’t complain!īut James Cameron has always been built differently. So our hero might grab a mac-10 submachine gun and rip hundreds of shots without once appearing to reload. Instead, it was all about adrenaline, slow motion, and great camera shots. And at the time, most of those films weren’t especially bothered with the accurate depiction of firearms and gear (looking at you, Commando). Released in 1991, Terminator 2 came to us at the peak of action movie mania. It’s wall-to-wall action with some of the first decent CGI effects and James Cameron (director of Titanic and Avatar in the directing chair). The movie features Arnold Schwarzenegger in his acting prime, reprising his role as the infamous T-800 Terminator, along with jacked Linda Hamilton and many outstanding performances from folks like Robert Patrick and Edward Furlong. It’s arguably the most perfect action movie of all time. What are YOUR Favorite Gas Masks in Movies? Our Favorite Movie Gas Mask: The CM-6M from Tenet Honorable Mentions: 10 Cloverfield Lane gets the “MacGyver Award” Once we’re done looking at the fun stuff, we’ll pick a winner-with the best PPE/Gas Mask Gear shown in any of these movies. Oh, and we also included one stinker in there–for good measure. But instead of zeroing in on the bad examples, we instead focus on the outstanding successes… the mega-blockbusters that showed PPE equipment working as it should. There are plenty of other deadly sins regarding the depiction of gas masks on the big screen. In reality, if you don’t thoroughly decontaminate upon arriving home, you’d be exposing yourself (and others) to the threats your gear just saved you from. And then they go home only to rip their mask off before decontaminating their gear. They’ve already navigated the toxic environment. I'm not entirely sure what the solution is, a toggle makes sense to me which would allow for tactical use or even remove it entirely - I'd honestly rather die to the gas if I spent too long in there trying to shoot someone then having a ridiculous 3 way battle with an enemy and an animation. The most common gas mask blunder in modern movies comes after our hero makes their way to safety. There's plenty of different playing strategies, not just mass recon collection, so you shouldn't be punished for playing the border (especially as Recon players already have the territorial advantage). People don't tend to not see a problem with this as it's not an issue that you always experience but that doesn't mean that it's not an issue. The only way to 'play around it' would have just been to stupidly expose myself to the rest of the map and even then, the pace of the circle would have made that difficult. Used to be in the camp of 'It is what it is, learn to play around it' until I had a moving final circle that I could only just keep up with, which resulted in myself and another, running parralel, attempting to get slightly ahead of eachother as everytime we went to shoot, the animation would occur.
